Summer in Downtown Cleveland is the best time of the year — Yep, you bet we think that year-round! Baseball season is in full swing, patios are filled with social downtowners, festivals are taking over the streets and everyone is out and about soaking up the sun.
With such beautiful weather comes summer concerts — hello, we ARE in the Rock-n-Roll Capital after all. Downtown Cleveland’s charming neighborhoods are home to endless options for you to get out there and enjoy the sun and live music.
Since there are so many opportunities for you and your friends or colleagues, we’ve compiled an extensive list, neighborhood by neighborhood, of all of the places you can enjoy some of that Cleveland Rock-n-Roll (and then some)!
Shop local, listen local
Every Friday afternoon during the summer months, local vendors set up shop for the Downtown Farmers Market at Public Square from 11am-2pm, selling everything from berries to zucchini. While shopping, eating or just enjoying your lunch-break, you can jam to live music from local artists such as Brent Kirby. Speaking of jam, yes, the Farmers Market sells that, too!
Rockin’ in the Square
Horseshoe Casino knows that Cleveland loves to rock! Every Friday, you can end your work day with Summer in the Square as you listen to live music from local bands and grab a quick dinner from a food truck. Stop by Public Square from 4-9 to be a part of all the action. Afterwards, perhaps you can swing by the Casino and win a million dollars.
Gotta get down on Friday
Live at 5 Fridays on East 4th Street are the perfect way to end your work week in Downtown Cleveland. From 5-7, stop on by East 4th Street, grab a seat on one of the fabulous patios, listen to live music and take in the beauty of the neighborhood.
Dancin’ in the Street
Nothing says summer fun like an all day Street Festival. Warehouse District’s annual event is on Sunday, August 4th. Entertainment will be provided all day on West 6th. From 70’s cover bands to classic Rock’n’Roll, this party will keep you dancing!
A whole new meaning to “Star” Plaza
PlayhouseSquare’s Summer Excitement is in full gear. Every Monday at noon, Star Plaza is taken over by the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music as part of the Summer Garden Music Series. The theater district is home to some delicious new restaurants, get your lunches to-go and sit outside and relax.
Get your dancin’ shoes on
The Labbatt Blue Light Lime Concert Series is back for the summer, July 25th and August 8th. Swing by Star Plaza on these Thursday evenings post-work to enjoy live music, Labbatt Blue specials and more!
If the food truck is a rockin’
…it’s because the chefs are dancin’ while they’re cookin’! Each and every Wednesday, our friends at 87.7 Cleveland’s Sound supply amazing local bands to play for the large crowds during Walnut Wednesday.
On the third Thursday of summer months, come on down to Perk Plaza after work for Pop Up Parties to enjoy food, retail and a Great Lakes Brewing Company beer garden. During the party, a live band rocks out on a large stage and everyone in the crowd shows off their best dance moves. From salsa to rock, you can hear it all at one of these parties. Don’t be shy, get out there and bust a move! July 18th’s performance is by Cats on Holiday!
Smokin’ good time
It’s BBQ time at the Galleria’s courtyard. Stop by and grab something from the grill while enjoying live music as part as the Summer Courtyard Concert Series.

Every Thursday, food trucks park along on East 9th St. and serves up lunch next to Lake Erie. Sit down and take in the stunning views of the lakefront while enjoying live music played by local artists.
Don’t forget that RTA’s Waterfront Line is back up and running. While Downtown is extremely walkable and it would be a nice walk to get to the lakefront, the Waterfront Line will save you a couple minutes, letting you enjoy these events just a little longer!
