Downtown Cleveland is home to an array of events to get you out of your office and under the blue skies and sunshine.
Yesterday kicked off the 2013 season of Beats and Eats, a weekly the City’s tastiest summer festival series with live concerts, great food, artwork and gifts. Each and every Tuesday throughout September, Public Square becomes a true lunch-time destination. To keep up on entertainment schedules as well as the food truck lineup, be sure to like the event page on Facebook.
Of course, we all know and love Walnut Wednesday (okay, maybe we’re biased), that takes place in the NineTwelve District once a week. On Wednesday afternoons, you can find a variety of food trucks lined up right next to the green and beautiful park that is Perk Plaza. Bring your colleagues or fly solo for some R-n-R. Each week, 87.7 Cleveland’s Sound supplies the entertainment to set the mood to help get you through the rest of your day. Check out our website to learn more about Walnut Wednesdays.
Thursdays are now home to the newest and perhaps the most unique food truck event. Lunch by the Lake, which had its debut in July, brings downtown workers and visitors to the stunning North Coast Harbor. Tomorrow’s Lunch by the Lake will hold this month’s Chef’s Kitchen, a unique twist where a food truck will be flipped inside out, showing off the highlighted chef’s talents. Live entertainment will also be provided. The weather is gorgeous and so are the views, so be sure to trolley, walk or take the Waterfront Line down to the East 9th St Pier!
Also new to dtCLE is the North Union Farmers Market at Star Plaza. As they like to say, the farmers market is an ‘urban desert oasis of fresh and sustainable local farm foods,’ (Try saying that 10 times fast). On Thursdays throughout October 10, head over to PlayhouseSquare during your lunch break and stock up on your fresh produce. BYOB – bring your own bag because we’ve heard they have quite the selection!
We just can’t get enough of those food trucks here in dtCLE. Their selections are so unique and it’s so tempting to try something new each time you see them. From deep fried oreos to Korean Burritos, sweet potato tater tots and hand-rolled sushi, the culinary scene behind the food trucks is absolutely incredible. Friday afternoons, those beloved food trucks line up near another beautiful green space, Willard Park (aka the Free Stamp). Food Truck Fridays brings Willard Park to life as downtown workers grab their lunch and enjoy the weekly entertainment that is provided by the City. Check out their Facebook page for more info and schedule updates!
A tradition in dtCLE is the Downtown Farmers Market at Public Square. Every Friday, local vendors take over the NW Quad of Public Square to serve downtown workers and visitors up some of the greatest NEO produce there is! While you’re there, pick up some veggies to make for dinner and grab lunch from (you guessed it) a truck and enjoy it outside.
Have a business meeting? Don’t forget that Downtown’s restaurants and coffee shops have gorgeous patios, perfect for getting some time outdoors.
During the summer, dtCLE turns into Downtown Rock City. There are endless opportunities to enjoy the sunshine and live entertainment. Check out our blog post to find your next downtown adventure.
